Rentiuno Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 August 2026
Who we are
Rentiuno ("Rentiuno", "we", "us", or "our") is a mobile app that helps landlords manage their rental properties, leases, tenants, rent and other income, and reimbursement requests. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
Rentiuno is operated by RENTIUNO PTY LTD (ABN 18 700 429 974), an Australian company. If you have any questions about this policy or your personal information, contact us at privacy@rentiuno.com.au.
This policy is written for Australia and follows the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If you use the app from outside Australia, see "Your privacy rights" and "Where your information is stored" below.
A note on tenant and other third-party information
Rentiuno is built for landlords. As a landlord using the app, you will enter information about other people, mainly your tenants (for example their name, email, and phone number), so you can track leases and payments.
When you do this, you are responsible for that information. You should only enter details you are entitled to hold, and you should make sure your tenants know you keep their details in a property-management app and how to reach you about it. Rentiuno stores and processes this information on your behalf so the app can work. If a tenant contacts us directly about their information, we will generally refer them to you (the landlord who holds it) and help where we reasonably can. See "Your privacy rights" below.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your name and email address. Sign-in is passwordless: Amazon Cognito emails you a one-time code each time you log in, so there is no password for us to see or store.
- Profile and preferences. Your notification preferences (for example whether reminder emails are switched on) and your device's time zone, which we use to send reminders at the right local time.
- Property and lease details. Information you enter about your properties and leases, such as addresses, property valuations, lease start and end dates, rent amounts, and payment frequencies.
- Tenant and contact details. Information you enter about your tenants and contacts, such as their name, email address, and phone number. See "A note on tenant and other third-party information" above.
- Financial records. Rent and other income you record, payment periods, and reimbursement requests and amounts. We store monetary values to operate the app's rent tracking and reporting.
- Photos and documents. Receipts and supporting documents you choose to attach to reimbursement requests. With your permission, the app can use your camera or photo library so you can capture or upload these. We only access photos you select; we do not browse your photo library.
Information we collect automatically
- Usage and analytics data. We use Aptabase, a privacy-friendly product analytics tool, to understand how the app is used and to improve it. This includes events such as opening the app or creating a record, plus your app version, operating system and version, device model, language, and an approximate (country-level) location derived from your IP address. Aptabase does not use advertising identifiers and does not track you across other apps or websites.
- Device and technical data. Basic technical details needed to run the app, such as your device time zone and app version.
- Push notification tokens. If you allow notifications, we collect a push notification token (the native token issued by Apple or Google for your device) so we can send you reminders about overdue rent and lease expiry.
We do not collect special category or sensitive information (such as health, racial, or biometric data), and you should not enter such information about your tenants into the app.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- create and manage your account and keep you signed in securely;
- provide the core features of the app: managing properties, leases, tenants, payment periods, income, and reimbursements;
- send you reminders and notifications you have enabled, such as overdue rent and lease expiry alerts, by push notification and email;
- understand how the app is used so we can fix problems and improve it;
- keep the app secure, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot issues; and
- meet our legal obligations and resolve disputes.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Notifications and emails
You control how we contact you:
- Email reminders. You can turn reminder emails on or off at any time in the app under Settings (Email settings).
- Push notifications. You can turn push notifications on or off in your device settings. If you turn them off, we will not be able to send reminders to that device.
Reminder emails are sent through Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) from a rentiuno.com.au address.
How we share information
We share personal information only as described here:
- Service providers (sub-processors). We use trusted providers to run the app. They may process your information only to provide services to us:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) for authentication (Amazon Cognito), application data and APIs, file storage (your attached photos and documents), and email delivery (Amazon SES). Our primary AWS region is Asia Pacific (Sydney),
ap-southeast-2. - Aptabase for product analytics. We run a self-hosted Aptabase instance on AWS in Sydney so analytics data stays in Australia.
- Apple and Google for delivering push notifications to your device, through the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). We dispatch notifications to these services through Amazon SNS in Sydney (
ap-southeast-2).
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) for authentication (Amazon Cognito), application data and APIs, file storage (your attached photos and documents), and email delivery (Amazon SES). Our primary AWS region is Asia Pacific (Sydney),
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, to comply with legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Rentiuno, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If Rentiuno is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will let you know before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
Where your information is stored (cross-border disclosure)
Your information is stored primarily on AWS infrastructure in Australia (Sydney, ap-southeast-2). Some service providers may process limited data outside Australia:
- Apple and Google push services (the Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging) deliver notifications to your device and may process a push token and the content of a notification on infrastructure outside Australia, including the United States. We keep the content of push notifications to a minimum for this reason.
Where information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps consistent with Australian Privacy Principle 8 to ensure it is handled appropriately.
Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest, access controls, and use of established cloud infrastructure (AWS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us at privacy@rentiuno.com.au.
Data retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the app. When you delete a record in the app, it is first marked as deleted (a "soft delete") and excluded from your lists and totals, then removed on a routine basis.
You can delete your account and everything in it at any time. There are two ways to do it:
- In the app. Go to Settings, then Edit account details, then Delete account, and type DELETE to confirm.
- By email. Write to privacy@rentiuno.com.au from the address you signed up with, using the subject "Account deletion request". Use this if you can't get into the app. We'll check the account is yours before we start.
Either way your account is deactivated straight away, so you won't be able to sign in, and we permanently delete your data after a 7 day grace period. If you change your mind, contact us before that grace period ends and we'll stop the process. After it ends, the deletion is final.
We keep a minimal record of the deletion request itself, without your name or email, so we can show it was carried out. We may also keep limited information where the law requires it, for example to meet legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution obligations. Full details are on our account deletion page.
Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable law, you can:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date;
- Delete your account and associated information; and
- Complain if you think we have mishandled your information.
To exercise any of these, contact us at privacy@rentiuno.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time and in line with our obligations under the Privacy Act.
If you are a tenant or other person whose details a landlord has entered into Rentiuno, the landlord controls that information. Please contact the landlord directly. You can also contact us at privacy@rentiuno.com.au and we will help where we reasonably can, including by passing your request to the relevant landlord.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom (GDPR): you also have rights to data portability and to object to or restrict certain processing, and you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
Children's privacy
Rentiuno is intended for landlords and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@rentiuno.com.au and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top, and for significant changes we will provide a more prominent notice (such as an in-app message). Your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
